Lunchtime at St Barnabas
At St Barnabas we offer a variety of school lunch choices including hot lunches and a salad bar. Our supplier is Chartwells, please see the link to the current menu below.
Schools are legally required to provide meals that comply with the School Food Standards. These standards are intended to ensure that children get the nutrition they need across the whole school day. They govern all food and drink on offer within the school and apply across the school day, including breakfast, mid-morning break, lunchtime and food served after school.
A Healthy Diet
The eatwell plate (below) highlights the different types of food that make up our diet, and shows the proportions we should eat them in to have a healthy, balanced diet. It’s a good idea to try to get this balance right every day, but you don't need to do it at every meal. You might find it easier to get the balance right over a longer period, like a week. Try to choose options that are lower in salt when you can.
Packed LunchesAlthough we would encourage all pupils to have a school lunch, parents may choose to provide a healthy packed lunch as an alternative. More information about what a healthy packed lunch is can be found at healthy packed lunches
